WELCOME ABOARD! |
The Monarch-Neihart Historical Group is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation that was formed November 2012 to raise funds, and to preserve and promote the rich history of the settlers, miners, loggers and railroad industry in this region. Current work focuses on the old Monarch Great Northern Train Depot as a first restored asset to our scenic area. Our plan is for this depot to be a repository for written, oral, and artifact history to our region.
We hope you hop on board and take a ride around to learn more about our history, and the progress we are making on our projects. The photos below are of the Monarch Neihart Historical Group laying donated used hardwood flooring in the Great Northern Depot to cover a concrete pad.

The waiting room looking into the Depot office. The waiting room flooring is 2 1/4" maple. When all the flooring has been laid, it will be sanded to remove the red paint and a new finish applied.

The office floor is 1 3/4" oak. It will be refinished.

The concrete pad was covered with plywood as subflooring. Showing is the unfinished floor in the freight room looking into the depot agent's living quarters. Unfortunately, we don't have enough used donated flooring to complete the project. We will be purchasing 935 square feet to finish the project at a cost of $4,125. With your financial help, we can get this done!

Neihart Fire Bell Tower

We are happy to report that the bell is ready to go to work, and is available for fundraising at various events in the Belt Creek Valley. Check out the photos here.
It was with a great deal of excitement that MNHG was asked by the Town of Neihart to construct a replica of the Neihart fire bell tower. To learn more, and to donate to this very worthwhile cause, click here.
